Reliance (mostly UNRELIABLE) India Pvt. Ltd.

I took Reliance connection last year and found the service very poor. First they took a very very long time to deliver me my device, as I remember a fortnight or so, when they had promised the same in a weeks time. They delivered the device, only when I complained that I was a Qualcomm employee and would approach authorities, if not addressed. I wonder if the device they gave me was crappy, because the service turned out to be very poor. It was slower compared to Tata photon, would take longer to connect and would disconnect while using.

Given the poor service, I stopped using it - just forgot to inform them. when they called me, I told them that I had stopped using the service long time back and wanted the conncetion disconnected. I dont remember very clearly, but they just wanted more money, regardless of the fact that I was not using the service (as could be clearly shown in their records).

About 6 months down the line (around June), they threatened me with court action. I got in touch with the salesman (some V.K. guy) again (who had given the original connection at Qualcomm) and told him to sort out the matter. He said that, I was a good guy and would deal with it. I even thanked him for it!

Today, this new year, I am getting another letter from their legal department. While I figure out, I would just like to warn people to stay away from Relience (as far as possible). They are really crappy brand and bring bad name to India.

Though, I believe, we should support Indian companies and good companies can solve many problems for India. I am just threatened, likes of Relience and what they would do to India. It reminds me of how politics has ruined Bihar.

  1. I agree with you in that Reliance is a very unreliable company and they are here to loot India. They have no ethics and money making is their only objective in life. They can go to any extent to do that and i always take care to avoid using any of their services as far as possible. But i do not agree with you in your particular situation. You should have mailed their customer service for the disconnection and some formal disconnection notice should have been given. This would apply for any of the services regardless. Giving legal notices ofcourse and continuing the service for so long without disconnecting while you haven't paid your dues is improper on Reliance's part.
Your starting the facebook group is really wonderful...i have sent a request to join...but please be careful of any possible legal implications....just have a word with a lawyer...maybe Ramakrishna NK might help as he might know some lawyers...delete the message if you find it inappropriate...just what i felt abt it...

  2. Well I too have a bad experience with Reliance to share. One unfateful date I decided to take relience netconnect as i wanted internet on go.

First month experience was good. It worked well and i used it for 25 days. Then when i recharged it next time for save value it worked only for 10-11 days. No big change in usage behaviour on my side. Anyway, i thought I might have surfed heavy sites.I recharged it, this time it worked for 5 days! I immediately called customer care. the customer care lady turn out to be a robot. No matter what I say her she gave me same set fo programmed replies.I said ok let me teach these people a lesson and ask them to change by plan to post paid. They told me it will take 3 days. My friend submitted the docs and a guy from reliance did verification. After third day no connections.I called them promptly. To my surprise they told me they need 3 days for verification and 2 days for activation. By next week the device start malfunction. I tried calling there Bangalore head office but no one replied.

Though I had plan to take some serious action but later realize our courts r already filled with million of of scams n cases. so instead of filling a case against reliance I decided to be a reliance anti-evangelist: discourage people buying anything reliance.

I think this is the best way to teach some lessons to these baniyas of India who treat customer as trash.

i suggest anyone reading this to be a active anti-evangelist. Show your customer power.

  3. Hey Pavan:
I appreciate your advice. I might sort out this legal matter, but keep vigil of reliance scams and experiences. ~~ Rel-Wiki on FB - http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_175854672447430&ap=1 ...
